Dear Deanna,

Since we are nearing Father's Day, I felt impressed to tell you a little bit about your father.  I realize you were very young when he was separated from your family and might not be familiar with what a special person he was.

Stan sold coal for the coalyard that my mother managed on 17th South and 1st West.  He stayed in the scale room in our home.  My two brothers and sister and I grew up with Stan living with us and he was like a second father to us.  Stan spoke of his family and children very often especially you.  In fact, he spoke so often of you, that I felt like I knew you.  Whether they knew it or not, he loved all his children very much, but it was obvious that you were his favorite even though he tried not to show it.

All of my family had fond memories of Stan.  He was someone everybody liked.  He didn't have an enemy in the world.  He smiled and laughed a lot. I never heard him say anything bad about anybody.  Even though he was divorced from your mother, he never hd anything negative to say about her.  Stan was a super salesman and could sell anything to anybody and usually did.  His customers looked forward to him coming out to get their order. When my mother would call the customers to see what coal they would need for the winter, they would tell her they would wait for Stan to come out and see them.

There was never anyone who enjoyed and appreciate nature more than Stan.  He would point out beautiful and unusual parts of the scenery.  He acknowledged the hand of God in all the beauty of nature.  He would take our family to see the Christmas lights and he always knew the best places to go.  One of his favorite pastime was to drive up in the mountains and se the blossoms coming out in the trees or the leaves turning colors in the fall.

Stan loved good food and dabbled in cooking.  He was experimenting with potato flour before Spudnuts even came up with the idea.  He made the best ice cream and he loved fried chicken and tapioca pudding.  He was one of the first customers of Kentucky Fried Chicken on 39th South and State.  He took our whole family there to try it out.

Stan played Santa Claus a couple of years for the Christmas party and he made the perfect Santa Claus because it was just like his personality, happy & jolly, and he loved kids.  And they loved him too.  He used to put us on his lap and sing silly little songs to us.  He had little saying he would say like "We're here because we're here,"

Stan was a very special person and if you notice any of these special traits I have mentioned in one of your children or grandchildren they probably inherited them from him.  I hope they realize how lucky they are to have such a special grandfather. He was loved by a lot of people and I am proud to say that all of my 7 grandchildren are descendants from him, and when I see how kind and gentle they are, I thank Stan.

Merge BLP8-HF and B0M9-N0.  His second wife, Mary Ellen Cragen 23Z5-XR is correct.  Mary Ellen JENSEN PNDW-9L should have been merged with it and also Mary Ellen CRAGUSS, (mine)PJSW-R0.  Make sure from second marriage record that Jensen is the same as Cragen.  Merged the 2 Valton Merrill Pratt's and the 23Z5-xr with pjsw-r0 on Mary Ellen.  Need to be sure Jensen is same person as Cragen.  Pratt Family Association said this is correct and her kids' names are Jensen. Possibly check obit to see if her name mentioned as Jensen.  Then check marriage certificate to double-check this.
