The death of Mr Graham Brougham an old and highly respected resident of Motueka occurred yesterday morning.
Mr Brougham who was in his 83 rd year was born in Lower Moutere being the youngest son of the late Mr John brougham.
His father came to New Zealand in the "Martha Ridgeway" and his mother in the Lloyds both arriving in 1842.
The late Mr Brougham followed the pursuit of farming and later engaged in business  as a carrier at Lower Moutere  prior to his coming to reside in Motueka  in 1910 where he and his wife Annie Charlotte ran a boarding house in High Street, where Sinclairs are now in the same building. He continued in the carrying trade until he retired owing to failing health in 1937.
Deceased though not taking a prominent part in the affairs of the borough was always keenly interested in its welfare and progress.
He was associated with road construction having been a contractor on the Takaka Hill and Moutere Hill roads.
For 65 years he was a member of the Odd fellows Lodge Manchester Unity. The late Mr Brougham leaves a widow and a family of eight daughters and two sons. The Daughters are Mrs Raymond Fry (Riwaka) Mrs H Small (Frank ton) Mrs AC Jackson (Auckland) Mrs J Ranger (Putaruru) Mrs G F Smith (Motueka) Misses C Brougham and L Brougham and the sons Mr Dick Brougham (Lower Moutere) and Mr H Brougham (Motueka)
There are 30 grandchildren and 13 great grand children. The sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended to Mrs Brougham and her family. 2  OBJE

Let us pray to a wonderful husband and father who dedicated his whole life to his family and to 'Ginty's he was known to all his friends and workmates.
During his working life Ginty was a dedicated servant to his employers,turning up each day ready to give of his best at all times. He was very popular and highly respected by all his workmates and a feature that will always dwell in their minds was his humerous little dig he would have with his mates.
 His interests in life were heavily favoured towards sport, among these being his participation in rowing and rugby in his younger years, and his skills as an active bowler with his clubmates. He shared these interests with his family who now themselves find the same enjoyment as he did.
  Right up to his last moments of consciousness he was still asking "who's kicking and what's the score"?
       Even after his official working life had ended that wasn't enough for Ginty. He found he had time on his hands which he wanted to utilise in some fulfilling way so he joined the Churton School Staff and became part of the establishment.
   Once again he displayed his dedication to his work by being the first to arrive every morning, winter and summer,and have the school ready for another days operation. He was respected and loved by all the children and was like a Grandad to them all.  On his resignation from his work with the school the School Committee knew they had lost a very important part of the school and a friend.
  During his later life he shared  this fully with his wife , under taking his share of the chores within the family home. They were such familiar figures together as they moved about our local community.
  He will be greatly missed by us all and we offer our sincere sympathy to Frances and her family.
